Hello, I am selling for a friend several old and antique plucked instruments. He collected for many years. I hope you will like them. Now you are offerding on a vintage bowlback mandolin, handmade in Germany, a very beautiful and very interesting piece. The label at the top and inside says \"Herwiga Solist\", (handmade by luthier Wilhelm Herwig from Markneukirchen, one of the best luthiers for mandolin in Germany in the 20th century) I guess it was made around 1930 (or later). Finest all solid woods, the top is solid spruce, the back is made of rosewood with 26 smaller and 4 thicker ribs. The mandolin does not need repair and is immediately playable with brilliant sound.

The tuning of the mandolin is standard: gg - dd - aa - ee.

The extended concert fretboard with 22 frets (condition: good) is made of ebony, 6 markers. Nice head, the tuners work very well, the bridge is stable, the original one. The neck is perfectly straight and very good playable, action 12th fret is 2 to 3mm. Elder strings, very strong and brilliant sound with good sustain. A high quality instrument!
