Vintage Hires Root Beer Soda Fountain Syrup Dispenser Sign

I recently purchased a bottle and display jar collection that was found in the basement of an old abandoned drug store in 1968 that I will be listing over the next few weeks, so be sure to check back for more great items.

Here is a vintage Hires Root Beer soda fountain syrup dispenser in excellent condition. This has Drink Hires on 3 sides in thick white paint. Two of the sides show light chipping on the white paint of the Drink letters and some discoloration shown in picture #6. There are some light scratches on the top of the glass, probably had a sign or other display on it, not bad but mentioned for accuracy. The chrome metal base has a few small pits but not bad at all, see picture #7. The plunger valve that lets the liquid out works perfectly and it does hold liquid. The metal bottom part of the glass looks tarnished like it is silver plated but it is only marked patent pending. There is still some water condensation inside from when I rinsed this out which will dry over time but has a small opening so it's a slow process. This dispenser is missing the spigot that threads onto the metal bottom of the glass top. There is one listed on now with the chrome base. Or, if you know someone who is handy a piece could be made to secure the two parts. Because it is missing this piece it is NOT SAFE to display as I have shown in picture #1. A bump could cause the glass top to fall off. Although this needs a part it is still a pretty rare piece that seldom comes up on . I'm not sure on the age but most items from this lot were from the teens to 1930's. The glass top measures 10" tall x 6 1/2" diameter at the widest point. Sitting on the chrome base it measures about 14" tall from a counter top. The slot in the chrome base is 1 1/4" wide and the top opening is 2 3/4" in diameter. The spigot connection for the top measures 1 7/16" and has fine threads. This will be well packaged and insurance is included in case of loss or damage. A true sale with a low start price and . Please see pictures for more detail and the other bottles and jars I have listed.
