Vintage LUFKIN RULE CO. DOYLE Log Rule Lumber Scale - Excellent Condition
Hi! I have up for sale the nicest example of a Lufkin Log Rule I've ever come across. It's crisp and clean all over; every number and marking is crystal clear. There is no damage or added markings, and the wood is springy and strong. The brass end is well in place. The most striking is the handle, as seen in the photos. I am guessing it is made ofhickory, with a darker contrasting wood that gives it a handsome look. There are two brass pins ensuring the handle stays together for a lifetime or more.
It is embossed with "DOYLE'S" on one side, and "The Lufkin Rule Co., Saginaw, Mich., U.S.A." on the other.
The rule measures 42" end to end, 1-5/16" wide, and is 3/32" thick - of course I'm only using a modern Stanley to measure the Lufkin! This is a gorgeous rule and is perfectly useable, but makes a terrific display, too. I could not determine it's age in my relatively brief internet research, except to say that th company folded in 1967. This four tier board rule seems to have been one of the later models.
