$329.00

FINAL sale: NO SALE OR OFFERS GOES TO PACKING FOR MOVE..tank you for your consideration. A Stereo Console of Unique if not Rare Qualities in Excellent Working Order
In 1972 Magnavox released an innovative new stereo console design – a modular system that would allow separation of speakers from the stereo components. They branded it the Magnavox Component System and put forth one of the best stereo console combinations of the day.I have worked with many consoles over the years from Magnavox, Zenith, GE, Grundig, etc. I have never seen the like of this model in design or performance. It’s not only in working and excellent cosmetic condition, it represents a unique moment in Magnavox design history – A modular concept. And the sound, well, I’ve been listening to it for months now and I never grow tired of it – and loud – look out If you want to rattle the windows, you can go to 11 on this baby. The Cubes:
Consisting of 3 pieces, in exactly same dimensions: 16.5” x 24” x 16”. One cube holds the Magnavox 1500 Stereo Amplifier/Tune and also the slide-out turntable. The other two identical cubes hold the speakers. These speakers are phenomenal. They are a 15” Magnavox woofer & horn loaded mid/tweet.
Fashionable decorated in wood laminate, with dark faux leather stripe. They are in excellent cosmetic condition. The receiver cube has doors that open or close to conceal hardware, with smoked glass window looking in on album storage. The speaker cubes have stylish wood grills of wood laminate and grills over the woofer and horn. They adhere to the speaker tightly with a type of plastic Velcro-like connectors which binds them tightly to the speaker, but makes removal simple. The can stack, speakers can be positioned in any position – horizontal or vertical, and best of all, can be placed anywhere you want – unlike all-in-one consoles. The Receiver:
The Magnavox 1500Made by Philips High Fidelity Labs electronics and speakers in the old Magnavox factory in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Ampeg was at one time a division of Magnavox so building Ampeg amps in the Fort Wayne plant was logical. The Magnavox 1500 was the top of the line receiver Magnavox made then. Very excellent performer and well built. They sound nice. Very underrated gear! About 40wpc, but when paired with these speakers, WOW, loud and bright. Its in enclosed in the cube, but removable. Has an aux port for inputs. Has a beautiful green backlit display on the tuner section. Tuner works great. Aux in works well. AM/FM works well. Built in FM antenna. The display is a beautiful green backlit.I setup CD’s, my Turntable, and even Ipod – via RCA jacks to the input of this baby and it handled all sources of music very well – especially the vinyl.Stream Wireless:
or Connect existing components to this marvelous modular unit for vintage/modern stereo experience!By adding a Roku or other wireless streaming device connected to the aux port – you can stream your phone to it or make it into a streaming speaker system of epic proportion.Turntable:
Magnavox MicromaticOriginal Magnavox Micromatic turntable – unit powers on, all functions work, though speed adjustment/new belt may be required. Just ordered replacement needle/cartridge. Comes with the original 45 record adapter. The Speakers:
2 way monitors – 15” woofer / horn loaded Monsters15” woofers with rubber surrounds in perfect condition. Woofers were made by Magnavox/Phillips and have a very similar look to Altec drivers I have in model 19’s.These speakers will blow you away. Forgotten in time – some of the best engineering work in vintage console stereos!
Tested and listened to for hours with CD’s, Vinyl even streaming digital music – they are winners all the way around. The horns are very sensitive and reproduce vocals particularly well. Cosmetics:There are some minor abrasions on the top of one of the speaker cabinets, and minor dings along the edges of the speaker wood grill covers. Overall - remarkably clean and damage free cabinets for being 45 years old.To do’s:
1) Turntable needs a new needle. Part on order – I will install that component for you prior to pick up.
2) there is one lamp out in the receiver controls – the treble lamp – but the design is such that a panel of lights can be removed and a bulb inserted into a socket – piece of cake – just haven’t ordered part. Leaving that to you.
3) The turntable turns and works – it appears to be slow. It may be a belt or in need of lubrication. Also relatively easy mechanical issue to bring it back.Ready for Demo:
This unit plugged in and is ready to play. I will demo for you if you are interested. Because of the weight and complexity of shipping such a unit, Local Pickup is preferred. I can also deliver it to SF bay area, Sacramento, Reno and Lake Tahoe for a fee. Email to discuss.
