Up for sale is a nice playing and sounding used A Style Dixon Mandolin with oval sound hole. This mandolin has a very old time look and sound. I think that the oval sound hole makes it sound deeper and warmer than the average mandolin. I have added a solid cast tail piece that gives it more resonance and an inlaid bone saddle that gives it a brighter sound with more sustain. The name on the headstock is Dixon Est 1942. My guess is that it was made in the 70's or 80's. My guess also is that it is Asian made, although there is no label. It has a nice rope binding on front and white binding on the back and around the inside of the sound hole. The tuning machines work very well. It has an adjustable truss rod. There are surface scratches that would be expected with an instrument that is 20+ years old. Only the scratches next to the tail piece are through to the wood. The others are just in the finish surface.
I would consider this to be a beginner to intermediate instrument or one that an advanced player could bring to a rowdy party and keep his or her good one home.
I will include a set of used gold tuners that match the tail piece if one wants to switch them to match.
There is no case.
