This sale is for a vintage Penzel Mueller brand Bb soprano clarinet. It is marked \"LP\" for low pitch. This instrument is very interesting in that it has some unique key-work. The first thing one will notice is that it has rollers on two of the right hand pinky keys. I\'ve never see rollers on a Boehm system clarinet before! Also notice that the left hand pinky cluster has four keys rather than the usual three. The additional key activates the G#/Eb, which normally can only be played using the right hand. The upper joint has a \'doughnut\' style D/A ring with an adjustment screw. There is also a ring for the third finger tone hole (which is usually an open tone hole). It also has a \'wrap around\' register key, which is not particularly unique, but somewhat indicative of its era (I\'d guess this to be from the 1920\'s or 30\'s). This instrument is in good overall physical condition. The two main joints and barrel don\'t have any cracks or past repairs. The bell looks like it has had some minor repair work done on a few odd chips near the bottom, but it looks solid and of little concern at this point. The key-work appears to be silver plated and the plating is in good condition with no noticeable wear. All keys are moving freely. All pads and corks will definitely need to be replaced, and it will need a good cleaning and oiling. The case is worn, but solid. No mouthpiece or other accessories included. This would be a very interesting horn for collectors. I imagine, given its extra key-work, that this was built as a higher end instrument.
