You are looking at asomewhat rareTurner S22D (Dynamic) model microphone from the 1950\'s. This heavily decoinspired piece with satin chrome finish makes this one of the most widely recognized microphones ever produced. The 22 series came inseveral different styles over the years with the only changes coming in the lower half that carried the Turner badge and the type of element used. The 22 microphone either had the crystal element or the Dynamic element. All 22D\'s carried the Dynamic element which was a great improvement in sound quality.
You rarely see a Turner 22D with the on / off switch. You almost never get one that works well. This one does however and the switch slides smoothly and works just as it should. No issues.
This unit hasthe later rectangular, flat Turner badge in black.Yes, the mic works and it\'s set at High Z so it has an old school rockabilly sound to it.The overall finish is pretty nice except for the small ding as seen in pic # 10 which is a bit hard to notice at any distance.I would give a this mic conservative 8 +on a scale of 1 - 10. This would make a fine display in any collection of vintage early microphones. A true piece of Americana and a conversation piece anywhere it sits.
Mic comes with a vintage cable that\'s 3 1/2 feet in length and has a chrome plated 1/4 inch connector. Cable is soft, pliable and free of any damage. Just long enough for a desk stand.
The theading for the cable and mic stand are perfect. No issues. Solid inside and out this mic was built to last.
