Vintage Rich Dollhouse 1949 Ward's Large Tudor; Luxurious 6-Room English House:
$248.00

This sale is for a beautiful, vintage 1949 Rich dollhouse. This pressboard doll house measures 35" x 20.75" x 14.5". It is almost 70 years old, and does have some condition issues, but it's still a beautiful doll house that would be a great project, or nice addition for your collection. It has some charming features, like the working doorbell, the painted stair railing, and the original paint throughout.
I was helped in researching this doll house by one of the co-authors of the book Rich Toys: Doll Houses 1935 to 1962, JoAnn Belanger, who wrote:
Information about the house is shown on pages 187-188 ofRich Toys; Dollhouses 1935-1962by Patty Cooper, Rita Goranson, and myself. You may view the entire book on Blurb.com by searching by title or any of the author's names. (this is free, you can do it, too.)
After reading about the house in that book it looks like this is either "Ward's Large Tudor" from the 1949 Montgomery Ward Catalog (1949, and not 1948 because the windows - which are all missing - are the plastic snap-in type) or the "Luxurious 6-room English House" from the 1949 Spiegel Christmas catalog.
Condition: This doll house is almost 70 years old and shows some wear of the ages, while still maintaining a great deal of it's original charm and usefulness. Yes, it needs a little TLC to bring it back to it's glory, but what a great winter project it would make. I have posted 12 photos, and can email or text you more if you desire, to try to fully show the condition of the house. The worst flaws are; the condition of the black and white check floor, which I have given a close-up; the missing windows; and the screws holding the base on don't look like they are original.
Shipping: I tried to break the dollhouse down for shipping, but I really could never take the base apart. I am listing this as local pickup only for those in the CT/NY/NJ tri-state area, but if you are interested in a shipping quote to somewhere else I think I can buy a box at Uhaul that will fit the dollhouse as is, and I would be happy to price that for you. Buyer to pay for box and shipping.
Please reach out with any questions before offerding. Payment is expected at time of purchase. Thank you.
