Vintage Roxy Tenor Saxophone by Dorfler-Jorka Keilwerth:

This is a vintage Dorfler-Jorka tenor saxophone, made somewhere between 1955-59. Dorfler-Jorka did not keep good records, but I base thison my online research. I have seen several of these Roxy horns on and described as Keilwerth stencils, but that is not exactly correct. According to my online research ("World Wide Sax" being one of my resources), here is the story: Dorfler and Jorka both worked for Keilwerth in the 40s. Dorfler startedhis own musical instrument business in 1949 and took Jorka with him. They say that Dorfler-Jorka bought sax boddies directly from Keilwerth and made their own keywork. Later in the 60s, Keilwerth bought the business from Dorfler-Jorka. OK enough of that.

Original lacquer at about 75-80% remaining. This horn is completely rebuilt with top quality new "Selmer"resonator pads, cork/felt, and regulated(I had the work done back in February). This horn comes with rolled tone holes from the factory (Keilwerth). There are no dents in this horn (perhaps just a few very minor dings). I bought the case brand new from The Woodwind and Brasswind last May (it came with a slight issue but instead of sending it back I just fixed it with a new screw).

The horn plays great. Big, open sound. Great ergonomics.

This is an intermediate/semi-pro horn I think, although some may consider it of professional quality. The bell was likely damaged slightly in the past butwas repaired very wellas there is evidence of this from the scratches in the bell (see picture #7). Lots of scratches on this horn at the back, but does not affect the performance. I believe the post under the left hand spatula was broken off, and a technician made their own replacement part with 2 feet instead of just 1, which makes the mechanism more stable (I tried to show in the pictures). I think this is the reason for the discoloration on and around that area of the body. May need small adjustment after shipping - but the horn plays great right now. Pads should last many years.

I am selling this horn as I arleady have 3 pro horns. I am also starting offerding low as I want it to sellin a week.

Shipping in the US only. PayPal only.

Thanks - Boonie
