Vintage Telechron Bakelite Art Deco Clock & Household Timer - Working
This Vintage Telechron Bakelite Art Deco Clock & Household Timer is in great condition and working order. This Model 8H61 with its Brown Bakelite Case with Gold Rimmed Face and Knobs has a distinct Deco-style look, and was Manufactured between 1945-1949. The post-war years saw more focus placed on the kitchen, offering a wide array of affordable labor-saving devices. This Telechron Clock has three settings on the front left: Auto, Off and On, and an alarm/timer setting on the right. The timer was generally for kitchen use, but a time switch two-prong outlet on the back allowed lights and other devices to be turned on. Founded by Henry Ellis Warren, Telechron is the name of a U.S. company that manufactured electric clocks between 1912 and 1992. "Telechron" is derived from the Greek words tele meaning "far off," and chronos meaning, "time," thus referring to the transmission of time over long distances. The clock is in good condition with only one crack in the back, now fixed, (see photos) where the screw must have been tightened.Measures 5" x 2 1/2"inches deep x 4 7/8".A beautiful piece of history!
