The bayonet blade was made in Solingen, Germany but this dagger was \"made\" by an American soldier stationed in France using a German bayonet. I purchased this item in Tyler, Texas about four years ago from the old soldier who had made it. He was in a wheel chair and not in the best of health. I did ask him a few questions at the time regarding the item but he did not recall much. No info other than he made it when stationed in France. Bayonet blade is not perfect...some pitting...but is a great example how soldiers used idle time when not engaged in battle. Blade is about 7 5/8\" and knife 12 1/2\" overall. Fit and feel in your hand is great and I\'m sure it was of use at some point in the old soldiers activities! Robert Klaas of Solingen, Germany was one of many knife makers who supplied the Third Reich edged weapons.Item is shipped using USPS with tracking. I have never lost an item. I try very hard to keep the cost of shipping low. Please request different shipping or insurance before payment if wanted. Items are shipped within 24 hours hours of payment unless USPS hours prevent it. No money is made on shipping costs...period! And...I personally dislike being overcharged for shipping by sellers...period! Refunds of whole dollars are made when actual shipping is less than quoted.
