VINTAGE WOMEN\'S LONG UNDERWEAR

These long undies are deadstock from an old dry goods store.The brand is Prosperity and they date to the 1960s.They are the type that can be worn with a dress or skirt since they stop about mid-thigh, and can be worn over garter and stockings.The fit can be seen in the gallery photo. The rise is high and sits on the natural waist, the proper fit for under high-waisted skirts and pants with no visible panty lines.Great for that extra layer of warmth while keeping it vintage!

They are made of 100% cotton and are rib knit, giving them lots of stretch while retaining their shape. The seams are serged and there is a panel in the inner thigh so there are no raised seams to rub (photo 5). The end of the leg has some elastic so they stay in place. The color is ivory.

This pair is tagged a size Small. The measurements are taken unstretched with the garment laid flat. The waist measures about 9 inches across, the overall garment length is about 18 inches from waist to bottom hem, the length from waist to crotch is about 10 1/2 inches, the length from crotch to bottom hem is about 7 1/2 inches, and the leg opening is about 5 1/2 inches across. They have a lot of stretch. (For reference, my torso form measures about 24 1/4 inches around at the waist, 33 1/2 inches around at the hips, and has about a 17 inch thigh).

They are in very good, unworn condition. The elastic is stretchy,supple, andresilient. There is some typical discoloration along fold lines from contact with the cardboard stock box and of the elastic. This should soak out with a whitener such as Oxiclean or Biz.
