M-1943 Field Jacket

Jacket, Field, M-1943, Pattern \"B\"

100% Cotton

Size 36 (Small Regular)

Very Rare in This Condition..!! Don\'t Miss This One....!!

This iconic M-1943 field jacket has a November 1944 contract date and an August 1944 pattern date and the manufacturer is the Hampshire Sportswear, Co. All buttons are present. All seams are intact. The marked size states Size 36 R (Small-Regular), which in modern terms translates to Chest: 33 to 36 inches, Height: 67 to 71 inches. There are no issues... no rips, tears or repairs to this field jacket that I could find, it may not have ever been worn.

I don\'t know why he had this WWII field jacket in his Vietnam era aviator\'s flight bag, but it was there along with a WWII gas mask and bag, and his jungle boots among other expected items - hence the wrinkles...!! Perhaps this belonged to his father. The former owner, was a USAF B-52G EWO at Kinchloe AFB and later F-105F Wild Weasel EWO with 100 missions over North Vietnam during 1966 and 1967 who was awarded two Silver Stars and at least one DFC. He retired as a Lt. Col..... the winner will get his name and links to his record.

Note: This M-1943 field jacket coat is in Very Fine+++ to near Excellent or Mint condition. It is made of 100% cotton sateen-like light twill, a fabric that generally was very serviceable, however most \"worn\" M-1943s have fraying at the cuff seams, the design of which just didn\'t hold up to combat conditions. This Pattern \"B\" type of M-1943 would have been seen in the ETO particularly between early 1944 through the end of the war. See photo 4 for a close up of the fabric weave. I can send you a picture of any view or angle, just contact me well before the last day of the sale!

This combat coat is not a reproduction, was made in the USAandis absolutely original to the period.
