World war one soldiers "Mercator Knife" folding trench knife dagar . Reasearch shows that these were a popular soldier bought item . Used by world war one and two german soldiers and a modern stainless steel version is still made . There is quite a history behind these knives that can be seen by clicking on mercator WW-1 trench knives or mercator knife . This one has all the early markings and was found with a badly moth eaten U.S. WW-1 uniform and a death/hate belt from WW-1 so I am assuming that this Mercator is also a WW-1 item . Originally these all metal knives were painted . This one is bare but has a good unhurt blade , strong spring and lock and sharp ID markings and of the wolf cat . These were a popular "capture" item among returning G.I.'s and dohboys . The lanyard end has a phenolic resin filler piece you can see in the pics PAL OR CARDS THROUGH PAY PAL ONLY ; PREFER NO "E" CHEQUES MUST BE 18 YEARS OLD TO offer THIS ITEM !!!!
