This is an original M1938 Folding Knife Bayonet produced in 1938 for the Italian Mannlicher-Carcano Infantry Rifle. This is the first issue of this type of bayonet, the subsequent variants being a fixed version. The folding mechanism allowed the bayonet to remain attached to the end of the rifle while minimizing the length and shielding the blade edge against the rifle when not in an offensive position. The rarity of this bayonet made it as prized a war trophy among US and British troops in North Africa as the German Luger was in the European Theater. It has a wood grip and steel pommel with the muzzle-ring acting as an upper crossguard quillon. The blade is steel, single edged, and single fullered. No scabbard. Will only ship within the U.S.A. More than happy to combine shipping. Check out my other sales. Thanks for looking.
