This is how we found these...Two issues with 8 pages, One issue with 4 pages. All these newspaper clean and white, not dingy as our camera shows them to be....

Large section devoted to the speech of July 4th, 1865by Gen. O.O. Howard at Gettysburg. [ An excellent narration ]. Details of Ex-Sec. Seward visit to San Francisco...to speak at the Society of California Pioneers..a very good section that describes California.,from a letter or diary of man who was traveling the state, along with women whowere suffering from the heat...describes the extreme cold to extreme heat, the grand mountains, valley\'s, Yosemite, the devils\' Geysers, etc, etc.

The news of the passage of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, and all members of Congress stood and cheered its passing. [ The amendment addresses citizenship rights and equal protection of the laws and was proposed in response to issues related to former slaves following theAmerican Civil War. The amendment was bitterly contested, particularly by the states of the defeatedConfederacy, which were forced to ratify it in order to regain representation in Congress.] The Amendment was not totally legal until 1868 when it was ratified.

Large detailed description of Nevada and Lower California with details of the possible route of the railroad as it was being built across the western territories...so much more in these issues.
