WWI German S98 Bayonet in good condition, plus leather scabbard in poor condition. This was the bayonet originally issued fro the GEW98 Mauser rifle, but was found to be too weak and spindly for actual warfare. Bayonet is marked on blade for Erfurt for the Imperial arsenal, Spine marked Crown over W for Kaiser Bill, and 02 for year of acceptance. Crossguard marked 74 R.6.103 for the 103 weapon, 6th Company 74th Reserve Infantry regiment. Grips good with usual dings, pommel marked with two Imperial proofs, and release catch works. Scabbard is in poor condition overall, leather preety dried out, threads busted from just under throat piece down about 6 or 7 inches, but no holes in leather scabbard throat piece marked 127R.1.166 or 166th weapon, 1st company, reserve Infantry Regiment 127.
