I recently had the opportunity to purchase a collection of WW2 knives and bayonets from the family of the deceased collector. They said he acquired this stuff during the 1970\'s thru 90\'s. Included were 9 Japanese bayonets and here\'s one of them. This is a late War or Last Ditch production Arisaka bayonet. The maker mark was obliterated by Japan Army prior to surrendering it. No serial number. Rather crude construction compared to models from early and pre-War. Has the straight guard. Hardwood handles secured by peened pins. Blade shows use and some scratches from being sharpened. Original wood sheath with steel tip and throat. Held together with fine twine that was lacquered. A nice example of a used late-War bayonet.
