Up for offers today is an ANTIQUE WW2 signed Japanese Officers Sword. This Signature on this Katana (sword) is Ishido Teruhide. This is a sword manufactured during World War Two by one of the famed master sword makers of the time. Ishido produced swords for high ranking military officers and for civilians during the World War Two period. His swords are highly sought after. He achieved the rank of Betseki in 1943 by the Nihon Token Tarenjo and the Nihon Token Shinbunshi. Ishido Teruhide (1900~1982) was the 10th and last generation of the prestigious Ishido Korekazu line of swordsmiths in Edo/Musashi Province (Tokyo). He was the descendant of the infamous Musashi Daijo Fujiwara Korekazu.During WWII, he produced many swords for high-ranking military officers and also made blades for civilians. Ishido Teruhide was ranked Betseki in the 1943 swordsmith rankings by the Nihon Token Tanrenjo and the Nihon Token Shinbunshi. I SEE NO OTHER MARKINGS on the sword other than the signature. The blade IS 35 1/4\" LONG from tip to bottom and 28\" from tip to tang notch. Also there is one more spacer included that is stuck under. It is just like the larger one shown. This is complete with the rank tassel! You can easily see the wavy tell-tale signs of the blade being hand forged. The blade needs cleaned up as does the scabard but I believe the patina is a good thing so I did not clean a thing. This Samurai sword is all original! THE MEKUGI(PEG) IS missing. THE FUCHI(COLLAR) IS DISCOLORED, DENTED, AND THE WOOD THAT HOLDS THE RELEASE STUD IS BROKEN AND MISSING. THE TANG IS SINGED ISHIDO TERUHIDE, UNCUT, AND HAS ONE HOLE. THE TSUBA(GUARD) HAS WEAR, DISCOLORATION, AND SCUFFING. THE HABAKI(COLLAR) HAS SCRATCHES, DENTS, AND DISCOLORATION. THE BLADE HAS DISCOLORATION, PITTING, AND NICKS IN THE EDGE.
