You are offerding on an very nice example of aWWII Legitimus Collins & Co. U.S. Military Machete in wonderful vintage condition.
Collins Company located in Connecticut, was considered by many to be the best and most famous manufacturer of machetes in the world. Many of their models used by our troops in the Pacific during WWII. Its heavy-duty construction was ready and able to attack the toughest foliage or whatever might be found in a combat zone. The full tang blade is made from 3/16\" thick properly heat-treated high carbon steel.This particular blade is from the estate of a 93 year old U.S. Navy veteran who enlisted in 1940. There is no year visible on the blade but I do know the original owner served in WWII. Although he was having an estate sale, he was still alive and great to talk to.

• Heavy weapon - has a nice heft to it.
• Some rust and discoloration on the high carbon steel blade.
• Nicks on the handle.
• Still has good edge - looks like the owner sharpened it
