I have owned and worn out several Routers over the last 30 years. This one is very quite, has all the power you could want. I work with very tight grain hardwoods. The only bad thing I have found is the opening at the bottom is less than the head of the bit, so if your not careful you could be milling the metal of the router. Never the less, I would buy this model again.

Powerful unit. Easy to setup and quite reliable. Height adjustment is a bit tricky as I am using it on a Bosch Table. Same for replacing bits. Love all the accessories provided. Great value as a bench top unit. This is my very first Hitachi, but I will buy this make anytime now!

I like how quiet it is compared to other routers I've had. Wanted to use it as a spindle on my cnc mill for cutting wood. Added a spindle extension to use smaller bits but found out the shaft does not run true. I assumed it was the extensions but it was not. Extended to 3" the shaft has runout of .095" ! Can not use it for precision work such as inlays. I like the quietness of it, but cant use it.

I bought three of these for a project. The price was right and the variable speed plus quiet operation are perfect for my application. These would be a decent second or third router for a hobbyist, though maybe a bit underpowered for some operations. Ease of handling could make this a go-to tool for quick edge rounding or chamfering. Very nice tool.
