I bought this VCR because my Magnavox of 15 years finally gave out. I was excited to purchase this Panasonic due to its 6 head hi-fi capability (rather than the standard 4 heads on most vcr's). Although I seldom use a vcr to record programming these days (I have a DVR), I still like to back up some movies/shows on tape (especially when my DVR space is low). The playback quality on this model is EXCELLENT; I was very pleased when watching tapes I recorded on my old Magnavox. However, when I recorded a program on EP mode (6 hr speed on a vhs tape), I was very disappointed with the quality of the picture. It was snowy, and no matter how much I adjusted the tracking, I couldn't get the hi-fi stereo sound to come in clearly. When I tried recording the same program in SP (2 hr) mode, the quality was excellent. So as long as you don't mind recording all programming in SP mode, this VCR is satisfactory. With VCR's on their way out, I suppose this model is as good as any other on the market, but I think I paid more for the name than the quality. I wish I had my old Magnavox.Read full review
I have used several VCRs in the past and this one is by far has the best quality. Very quite and smooth operations and the picture is very crisp and clear.
If you use this VCR with yout HD tv set is very hard to know if you're watching HD or and old video comming from a VCR tape. Now these days you can buy this model from alomost nothing. Highly recommended.
