I got this as an update for a dying older Ipaq model, and like the general speed and features, but the battery design is a failure. The older models had two batteries, one (rechargable) for operations, the other for data/system backup. They dropped the backup one here, so if you ever lose batttery life on a trip, or even just sitting in a drawer unused for a few weeks, it loses all memory, goes dead, and you have to completely restore everything from a backup! I don't know if HP has any better (like the old style!) models, but until they do I won't get another one from them.

The 3835 is a versatile Pocket PC. It allows a wide verity of uses. Spreadsheets (Excel) and Word Documents can be modified or created on the PPC and then placed on your desktop or laptop. There are also Adobe files and MS Media Player files that can be viewed on the go. This gives the user the convenience of having a computer in remote locations that a desktop could not be used in and a laptop would be awkward to use. With the SD memory card the majority of restrictions on memory are removed. The iPAQ also does not require a large operating knowledge of computer systems to be able to use it. What ever you can do on a desktop system, the iPAQ can do the 99.9% of the same functions on the go. I do not use the iPAQ for videos in Window's Media Player. Media Player cannot handle top end graphics without modifications to the iPAQ. Just like a desktop, you can upgrade the iPAQ to what you need. One thing that I really like is that the 3835 is old enough that most of the upgrade programs are free or very low cost. On the other hand, new programs are still being written for the 3835, which gives it a nice comfortable operating zone. Most accessories are inexpensive and still easy to obtain.Read full review

PDA's are great for storing data and writing notes on the screen and transferring them to type... Great for traveling and reminding you of stuff... Now if they could do an upgrade on the psp, that rocks so much, and combine the handwriting recognition and other features of a pda with the gaming and multimedia of a psp that would be one sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet package....
