I am so impressed with this unit. it so quiet that you can still carry on a conversation when it's running. I was worried that 2000 watts would not run very much but after I got to test it by plugging in three motor loads my 6" bench grinder and then my 10 gallon shop vac and then A Worx tree branch chain saw and after that I plugged in some lights it was still running smooth and effortlessly. This was also a great price even thou it was a recondition unit it looked like new. It was shipped in the factory box and did not have a scratch on it. All so Generac has released their new model 2000 watt unit with a electronic led fuel gauge which is nice but not worth the extra money there asking and the unit is downgraded to only 1800 watts running not a full 2000 watts running and the old model starts 2200 watts. I would have given it 5 stars but I'm not sure that it has a compression release design in it because when I was trying to start the little guy I had to hold the unit tightly so that it would not scoot around on the compression stroke when I was pulling the cord.Read full review

filled with gas and ran it for 30 minutes, runs great but when I shut the gas off it poured out the bottom of the housing. wanted to send back but was told since I put gas in it I couldn't return it. told it was under warranty and to call generac to take to a service center, was told 2 in my town but when I took it in they said that they don't do repairs on it. next place 70 miles away and reviews warned of 3 month to get repairs done. took to local shop in my town for repair, cheaper than dropping off and another trip pick up to get fixed under warranty. carburetor needed cleaned, buy at Loews that way if you have a problem you can return it, no savings buying here on eBay.

I have 5 generators of various sizes for our off-grid ranch. I intended this one for small loads, but tend to grab it more often since it is so portable. I was surprised when it handled my air compressor OK. It takes turn-on surges well. It claims to be refurbished, but I doubt it was ever used. Two small complaints: the cord pulls hard and, when pouring gas in it, it is hard to tell the tank is getting full until it overflows. But this bugger is likely to be my favorite generator of the five I own.

After fifteen years of traveling all over the USA I sold my fifth wheel rig and let my little Honda 2000i go with it. It too was 15 years old but still ran good and did the job when boone docking or stopping for a quick snack or nap! But living in rural Alabama - the middle of tornado alley - being without some form of back up power is a crap shoot. I saw this unit and refurb deal here on Ebay and could not resist the urge to give it it a try. While I liked the Honda, at $450 - it was hard to justify the more costly Honda (2X) - for occasional use. The unit came the next day Fedx. Opening the obvious factory carton, the unit looked new - the only evidence it was not new was a note on the face of the owners manual, indicating that the warranty card had been mailed in Feb of 2015. Everything thing else suggested it had never been unpacked. There were a couple of nice touches (not included with the Honda btw) - 600ml of engine oil (the correct amount for the engine), a funnel designed for filling the engine and a tool kit for maintenance (universal screw driver - spark plug wrench - 12 vdc power cord). I read thru the instruction manual (not Chinglish) - filled the engine with oil - added fresh fuel - checked for leaks - and fired her up. The unit includes some operational functions that the Honda did not - a fuel primer bulb, indicators LED's on the panel, larger fuel filler with a self sealing fuel vent. The Generac is slightly larger than the Honda and weights a few lbs more empty (as well as fueled). Choke on and primer cycled until I felt a slight back pressure, the unit started on the fifth pull. Choke to mid point till she warmed up a bit, then off, the engine ran smoothly and quietly - maybe a db more than the Honda but hardly noticeable. The eco throttle system worked as expected and all output voltages were within spec. Obviously I haven't had time to fully evaluate the little Generac but my first impressions are positive. For the price, if it holds thru the warranty period, it will exceed my expectations. I will follow up in a few months with "field trials" - keep your fingers crossed!!Read full review

I already own a Generac 20KW for my house for those times when we do not have electricity available, so purchase of this little light weight Generator was a no brainer for me. It has already come in very handy. I had trouble working on my Skid Steer getting the bolts out to tilt the raidiator back to get to a settlement bowl for maintenance. I hauled the Generac down to my Skid Steer, cranked her up, plugged in my Earth Quake electric Impact Tool and began removing those troublesome bolts. The Generac came with 20 ounces of oil which is perfect for the crank case, and I had bought some Gasoline with no Ethenol, so all I have to add for storage is Stabil. The Generator is easy to operate and cranked on the third pull for the first time to start it. Therafter, after it gets warm, it will crank on the first pull. It is reliable as any Honda Generator that I have seen, except a little more quiet. Great Product!Read full review
