This VCR has the TV Guardian feature, which mutes profanity and will also put context appropriate captioning when muting. I watch very little live tv, mainly watching back programs I've recorded. There are standalone TV Guardian units that will hook up to today's cable boxes and DVRs, but the newest models of TVGs don't have the captioning. So, you may have a 5-10 second mute with no sound and may not know the gist of what was said for context. I'm still satisfied with my good old VCR with TVG.

I thought I had already written a review, but I guess I hadn't sorry. But yes I love the product I received so far so good it works really well. The best thing I like about this product is that it does record because that's what I was looking for. I also love the way features are on it (the buttons), I actually have to other Sanyo VCR's that still works terrifically after all these years. Also I love the color love silver. I would differently buy from the seller again. I really hope it last as long as my other two. The remote even works, so thank you!!
