First off, the price of new AV Receivers, including top-shelf brands/models (e.g. Denon, HK, Pioneer Elite Series, etc.) have come down dramatically over the past few years. In addition, the changing HDMI standards (to support 3D & 4K) can be a major issue/problem depending on need. This particular unit was, in the "Elite" series, a top end model in 2012/2013, with network connectivity, Bluetooth (via an adapter), and other similar modern functions. More importantly, this receiver is a high-current & high-power unit that will rock the house with audiophile clarity. I took a chance on buying this unit as it was sold for parts only. After cleaning the inside of the unit, I was able to resolve the problems it had via an hour or so of troubleshooting and reloading the firmware versions in order. So far, so good. If you can find a deal on one of these units, it will be well worth the money and will give you most of the modern technology/connectivity you will find with newer units, along with better power/sound. Originally, this unit sold for about $650-$850 but if you can get one for less than $200, it will serve you far better than buying a "new" $500 higher-end receiver. I currently have the unit hooked to my older monster Cerwin Vega VS speakers, the ones from the old days that have the 15" woofers and make the floor above rattle/vibrate. When time permits, I am going to swap it out for my current Pioneer Elite AV receiver in our main living room, connected to the 7.1 speaker system I have in place (so I can rattle the bedroom walls on the other side of the house on movie night). Having purchased a dozen or so older receivers over the past 15 years or so, I can attest that this is the best "older" receiver I have purchased used (even better than my old-school HK 795i stereo receiver that I have had for 20 years). Again, if you can find a deal on this particular model, take advantage of it. You will save a lot of money, get most of the modern features/gizmo's you may want, and it will give you pure power and crystal clear sound. Lawliss Roswell, GeorgiaRead full review
