I bought this as I have a horse that I ride who will flee at the sound of loud noises. In order to train him I am trying out this cap pistol as a low cost alternative to shooting 22 cal blanks in order to get him to react better to sudden noises. Its not as loud as a 22 blank but if I drop it while holding on, my loss if it gets stepped on is considerably less. If I had a young child it would be a fun gun to play with just like when I was a small boy.

although the gun's action appears to work, the force applied by the hammer is insufficient to fire the ring caps; it is necessary to pull the hammer all the way back manually and then release it to produce sufficient force to set the cap off, therefore just pulling the trigger will not fire the ring-caps but it is still necessary to do so to advance the next ring cap to the firing position and then manually pull back and release the hammer to make the gun fire. Overall the toy is a disappointment and I would not purchase another as a gift for any child.

It is made from a very flimsy plastic and it doesn't hit the cap every time. The chamber doesn't always turn so sometimes you have to do it by hand. A couple of times the sparks came back toward my hand. Paid $5 and that's about the right price. I wouldn't pay more for it.
