Authentic campaign token of Samuel Tilden and
Thomas Hendricks from the campaign of 1876 (vs. Hayes in a disputed election). White metal.
23 mm. Holed for suspension. Obverse has the inscription around, THE
AGGRESSIVE LEADER OF REFORM SAMUEL L. TILDEN, enclosing a bust of Tilden. Reverse has inscription, THOMAS A HENDRICKS,
surrounding a bust of Hendricks. DeWitt lists
this piece as SJT 1876-10. For Hake, it
is ST-3038. Valuable token, from an
election decide by one electoral vote, and it’s in excellent condition. According to the dealer/collector I purchased
it from years ago, there are only a few of these known to exist. SORRY, BUT I WILL SHIP TO U.S. LOCATIONS
