LED Grow Lights

Anyone using LED grow lights? The seem promising as the prices drop down the reasonable levels given the power savings and smaller amounts of heat generated.

thanks!

I haven't but am going to try them out when I build the 11 plant system. I read a lot of reviews online and it seems like they don't work quite as well as HPS, but for the energy savings, I think it is worth the sacrifice.

Let me know what you decide on, I don't see many of the major grow light makers really taking LEDs on.....

Jury Out

I think the jury is still "way out" on LED's, not sure they can reproduce the corrrect spectrums, enough lumens or the right temperature. My opinion...not worth the money yet.

Color spectrum is the most important thing in using LED's.

If there is interest in it, I could find the actual spectrum and then translate it to an LED output for people, shouldnt be too hard.

I have been using LED grow lights for a month now and so far I am satisfied with how much energy it can save. I have been using grow lights since I started hydroponics and since the price dropped for LED grow lights, I decided to switch. LED produces lesser heat than the regular incandescent light so we can place it nearer to the plant. This is also the reason why the time between watering cycles is longer. If you got the money to spare, LED grow lights can be an investment to save on electric bill. - J.M.
