L lids glue to the tees

I am having a problem understanding how the 2L lids glue to the tees. If the tee is one inch, and the bottle cap is an 1 1/8,how do I attach them together. Thanks from Ken

I would like to warn people that CPVC is a different diameter then PVC and CPVC is too small for
the system specified here. For this system, use white PVC. Live and learn. Ken Gough
