I actually went the AeroGarden route last year, Mine though was only the 3 pod version. It actually did well for me. This year (2018), I purchased a different top for the 3 pod version giving me 15 pods to play with.
Went out on a limb... decided to attempt hinoki cypress in the pods.
I'd like to keep in touch with your progression, see what works , maybe learn from each other
