I seen some pics in a book one time with leaves growing in a circular pattern and it was caused by the light schedule being interupted. I dont know if that would have the same effect on your plant though

Too high of EC could cause this. Too much nitrogen causes distorted growth. Insect damage can cause this problem, too. Did you ever get this one figured out?
