Default Styrofoam instead of plastic cups

Hey ron, could i use 16 ounce styrofoam cups instead of the 16 ounce solo plastic cups the are more easier to come by and alot cheaper. Would the chemicals in the grow soloution mess with the cups(detereation)? And were should i drill the holes n the cups. (i am using the 11 plant system)

Yes my professor friend Dr. Guna uses nothing but styrofoam cups in all his systems. Doesn't matter where the holes go.
