Default Air Stones in an Ebb and Flow?

Hi folks, new to the forum and new to hydroponics. I want to set up a small ebb and flow system for growing culinary herbs. So I've been doing some research and see a lot of discussion on hybrid or combinations of hydro systems. This got me thinking, since I have an air pump and some air stones sitting around. Would it be beneficial to running air stones in the flood area of an ebb and flow system? Or would it be pretty pointless?

I don't think they would help to much in the flood area since the roots are exposed to oxygen for the majority of the day while flooding isn't happening. Just put all your air-stones in the res. to achieve best results.
