Default root gnats/aphids

hello to all how are reading this thread, I am a newbie to the forum here, and I know you all probably want me to search before asking, well I did and turned up no results, so my question is this, I have root aphids and they end up turning into little fly/gnats, my plants are getting leaf curl and i need to control these little critters! any and all help would be greatly apreaciated!

If you are in soil, drop an inch of sand or diatomaceous earth on the top of your soil and sink the bottom of the pot into another inch or two of sand/DE.
