Default what do you plant the plant into?

hello ron, im a new grower and have a system designed like the 11 plant system but on a smaller scale ive got 9 plants this may seem like a dumb question but what do you plant the plant into? (if you know what i mean), can you just put plastic plant pots with holes at the bottom into the upturned bottle lids? or does it have to be something specific, also what amount of water should i use? bearing in mind there's 9 plants, i thought maybe a gallon? sorry 4 the stupid questions ron, but like i said im new too all this and any advice would be greatly appreciated, cheers

I use 16 oz. plastic drinking cups that I burned holes into with a soldering iron. You could use the plant pots if they fit into the bottles. I think you will need more water than a gallon.
