Default My 1st System update...

its being 6 days since I put the lettuces in the NFT system... the birds almost killed all of them.... but I discovered that on time to fix it...

so here we are 6 days has passed... I learned a lot more... now they have more than doubled their size... the roots are starting to get in the water flow.. as soon as that happens... they will g wild (I Hope)...

One thing I must fix is that the water its getting a little warm... Im sure thats not a good thing....

here are some pics...

I put one strawberry in there.. for a few days

Looks like you had enough extra plants sprouted to replace all the ones the birds killed. I that just goes to shows it always pays to have extra, just in case. I guess that shade cloth covers all sides to keep the birds out, as well as the wind you mentioned before.

Ya, I don't know what the temp is of your nutrient solution, but if it's warm to the touch, it's likely too warm already. That's probably the biggest issue I have faced with hydroponics so far (hot during summer and cold during winter), and it's going to start to get hot again for me here very soon.

The black bag system looks interesting. What are you using to hold the bags up?

Nice setup! Do you have any pictures from inside the shade clothes? How did you construct it? Oh interested about the bags as well haha Sorry for the big bunch of questions

About the nutrient temp: is it also placed under the shade clothes? Maybe dig it in as some other user in this forum has done. A chiller can be used but that seems a bit expensive to me. Anyway I have to deal with the same trouble soon as well. Will make an update by that time (2 or 3 months from now).

Look for the other thread as of yesterday update , that's a 10x20 carport covered with shade cloth.... the bags are temporary, they will be in a drip system...

The nutrients are inside the "greenhouse" lol... but still gets some sun... so the water temp its a little high... I was placing a gallon of frozen water every morning and fixed the problem... now I put a cover on the reservoir so the sun don't hit it too hard...

Ask all you want lol
