Default Rapid Rooters and PH

Greetings All!
New guy on the block...
Question: Will Rapid Rooters affect the PH of the nutrient laced water in the reservoir?

Currently operating a drip system using Hydroton (which has been thoroughly washed, rinsed, boiled, treated with a touch of vinegar, rinsed again and soaked in PH perfect 6.0 distilled water for days). I use ONLY distilled water. Using half suggested amount nutrients. My PH level rises HOURLY! I calibrate the digital pH meter EVERY use! I'm color blind so its my ONLY choice. Since I've ruled out the Hydroton and water as culprits...my ONLY variable remaining is the RAPID ROOTERS as they are peat based if I'm not mistaken. I have a ton of rockwool but didn't use it since it sat in my attic for 12 years! The Hydroton was 12 years old as well...

Any comments, suggestions, criticisms or rebukes are most certainly welcome! Thanx
