You need
nutrients designed for use in hydroponics if you want to use them in a
hydroponic system. Nutrients designed for soil grown plants lack many essential micro nutrients, and wont provide what the plants need. It's not that they are granular (dry), it's that the ones you mentioned (miracle grow and Osmocote) are not designed for hydroponically grown plants. There are plenty of dry/granular hydroponic nutrients on the market.
