do i need lights??
I am brand new at hydroponics, have been a sod buster all my life just for my family tho, nothing big. I have baught the bucket type DWC stuff and i have a south facing 12' picture window that gets sun from morning till sun down and i am setting up the buckets in that window
And when it gets warm out i will be putting them on the porch which is right outside of that window. My big question is will i need extra light???? I can buy lighting if i have to and will just put everything in another room but i would like to have everything in the natural sun if possible |

I grow in my south facing window all the time. The only thing is how new are your windows? Some windows have a film to lower the amount of UV's that come thru to help keep the heat out. If you have newer windows that may affect your plants growth. If they are older windows, no problem. Only way to know for sure is just go for it and see how they do. If you are growing fruiting or flowering plants you may need just a bit more light depending on where you are, here in the NW I would suplement lighting this time of the year but not in late spring thru early fall. Good luck and post some picts
