Clear (transparent) air lines for DWC
I'm just getting into hydroponics and am building a small DWC system. Is it OK to use clear air lines? I can understand using black for water to prevent algae, but algae in air lines isn't a problem is it?

I use the clear aquarium type of air line and don't have any problem with algae growing in it. You need fertilizer, water and light to grow algae in an air line and you shouldn't have the first two or something is wrong.

on the air line you will get a build up of minerals on the outside of the line were it is in the water [no biggie] the air stones I have been using have been getting plugged up from time to time and I just soak them in hydrogen peroxide for a few days and that seems to clear them up hope this helps Doc. |

I use clear air lines and never had any problems with algae build up. I have the air going 24 hours a day. The only time it gets turned off is when I do a complete change.
