1975 GUILD MANHATTAN X-175 BLONDE EXC COND w OHSC VINTAGE VIBE GREAT PLAYER!!! For your consideration is a vintage and rare Blonde 1975 Guild Manhattan X-175, in excellent cosmetic and playingcondition, with the included original hardshell case.This guitar shows minimal and honest playwear, with only minor scratches, scuffs and indentations upon close inspection.The only real cosmetic blemish is the outline of theoriginal owner’s name (DUDLEY) on the top as seen in pics.This feels raised a bit. Looks like it could possibly buff out or be removed at buyer’s discretion.The guitar is all original save for what looks like a an added black ringlet around the 3-way pickup switch.The guitar plays beautifully and sounds amazing, a jazz player’s dream, with a warm and mellow tone and a ton of sustain. These are carved wood construction and not laminated like the reissues. They sound incredible.The Guild hardshell case is in excellent vintage condition. It is missing the outside Guild logo. All latches are working properly, the spring latch is springy, and the case is structurally sound.This is by far the best deal around, for a vintage Manhattan X-175.
To the casual observer, the Manhattan X-175 might be mistaken for Guild\'s answer to Gibson\'s perennial ES-175. But with its larger 17\" body and contoured Venetian cutaway, the X-175 is actually better compared to Gibson\'s upscale ES-350. And even the legendary 350 didn\'t come with premium touches like bound f-holes, or the D\'Angelico styled stairstep art-deco pickguard.
Introduced in 1954, the X-175 model was equipped with humbucking pickups by 1963, and manufactured by Guild until 1985. The blonde X-175B is the rarest and most highly prized version, as the natural finish option was discontinued altogether in 1976.
This guitar is a product of the Westerly, Rhode Island plant, where Guild enjoyed its greatest years, from 1966 until its closing in 2001. In 100% original condition save for the changed three way switch, the instrument retains all original hardware, warmly ambered original blonde finish, and original hardshell case. A classic working jazz box, the X-175 has a sleek gentle D neck profile, with smooth low action, and a full-depth body that is warmly resonant yet notably response resistant.
A true best buy in a classic vintage US made archtop, the Manhattan X-175 is a true Golden Era standard for the performing guitarist.
