Vintage tank valve with 1/2\" pipe threads - Healthways Divair brand
This is a very old scuba tank valve.It is of course the old 1/2\" pipe thread that doesn\'t use an O-Ring for sealing into the tank.Even more interesting is that it doesn\'t have a O-Ring on the face for sealing the regulator in place.These valves used a large, flat, plastic ring, usually white. The regulator was sealed by screwing the yoke screw tightly against the plastic ring.
It seems to be in good shape although apparently well-used and it\'s a bit dusty from storage in my garage.There are some scratches on every side but no major damage from the big wrenches used to install these old valves as is common with old valvesI think it could be cleaned and polished and look really good.The burst disc looks OK but it can be replaced easily and the threads are clean and good.
It has printing on 2 sides.One reads \"SUPERIOR 5871\" (maybe the year - 1958?). I think Superior was the manufacturer.The other side reads \"HEALTHWAYS DIVAIR L.A. CALIF\"Healthways was a major scuba gear manufacturer from Los Angeles in the 60\'s and they did market a scuba system called the DIVAIR.
This valve has NOT been serviced.The knob screw turns easily and smoothly.You\'ll need to get a knob and nut from your local dive shop.
