Polished Bone Handle from a Jawbone from a Large Animal. Buffalo, Bear, Deer, or similar size.
The Knife Blade is Hand Made from a Shortened U.S. Army Ames Sword-circa late 1800\'s.
Large 9.75 inch blade & 6.25 inch handle for a total of 16 inches!Has engravings of circles on both sides of the handle, which had meaning to be original owner. The circle is a universal Native American Symbol & could mean, fire, sun, moon, cycle of life. This one appears to be Sioux.
Set with lead into the bone handle. The handle shows moderate staining from contact with hands & has appropriate age cracks.The scabbard is excellent condition, Huge 10 inches x 3 inches, minimal use, no apparent bead loss, but is more recently made and possibly a replacement to an original scabbard.
