I have seen and owned many Civil War swords, but this one isone I have not ever seen before,Inspectors marks for George Saunders, GGS,military inspector in 1862 (according tonet search)....in 1858 he was an inspector for Colt......this sword to me is very unusual and may have been a special order???? who knows.....blade has U.S. military motif marks, but are very faint.....blade is just under 31\".....one of the brass cross bars with the brass ball is missing....hopefully an easy fix.....All cup and fancy designs are in brass, the handle is wood..........shipping in the U.S. $20.00......thanks for looking.......PLEASE NOTE....a fellow er tells me this is a post war theactrical swordmade by Ames, He has one like it,but not as fancy of a design at the cup.
