This is an early (1890s) Galvano-FaradicElectro-Therapy Acid Wet Cell Chemical Battery Medical Apparatus that predatesthe more common devices that use the solid dry-cell batteries. The device is a solid 7” x 7” x 8” wood case with a hinged lid andnickel handle. The original label inside the lid is signed“ThomasHall”in script. The unit is missing the glass battery acid jarbut the remaining electrical cords, and label inside lid, make a great perioddisplay item. The paper label says: “Hall’s New French Battery. Thomas Hall,Electrician. 19 Bromfield St, Boston Mass” and also“Producing ThreeCurrents, 1stPrimary,2d Primary and Secondary, 3d. Secondary or Faradic (very powerful)”. This product was used “FOR RHEUMATISM, NEURALGIA, LUMBAGO, AND ALL NERVOUS TROUBLES” (seephoto of an early ad – ad not included with produc).
