A really fine example of a rare 1914 Springfield Armory Bolo Machete for use by the U.S. Hospital Corps during WW1 and after. This knife is in great as found condition with only some slight blade pitting, the handle and tang are very nice. The sheath is dated 1904 and the leather is very good, still supple and tightly stitched. The walnut handle is very tight and secure with one small crack near the base, not affecting the integrity of the piece. The knife measures 17\" long with a blade length of 12\". The knife fits the hand very well and is heavy but well balanced. This knife and sheath would make a fine addition to any collection and a pair in this condition are not often seen. Do not miss this chance to own a proudly made American piece of U.S history.
