1936-1942 Vintage SS Stewart Model 7006 Archtop Acoustic Guitar - Great Player!
Up for sale is a vintage SS Stewart Model 7006, dated 1936-42. The entire SS Stewart line was distributed by Buegeleisen & Jacobson, aka B & J, after the SS Stewart Co went bankrupt in the mid 1930s. B & J acquired the SS Stewart trademark and contracted with Harmony to build Stewarts. To be honest, this is the best sounding and playing Harmony built archtop I have ever played. For a bit more info on B & J, refer to Wikipedia: have listed this guitar as a \"player\" because of the many fine scratches on the finish. It plays and sounds very well, with an above average amount of resonance for an archtop. I believe it is all original except for the pick guard and two nicely hand made brass tuner buttons (the D and low E), see pics for details. It has beautiful wood purfling on the front; single ply white binding on the front, back & F - holes; block MOP fret markers, red tortoise headstock overlay and pick guard. There is a slight offset to the rear binding on the treble side of the lower bout, most likely from a repair completed long before my stewardship. This guitar has been set up for my preferences, yours may differ.
The top is solid spruce, the back & sides are solid mahogany. I am unsure whether the neck is mahogany or maple. Nice rosewood fingerboard. Nice to play, nice to hear. Sorry, no case.
