This is the first year they made the styled Land only 1,264 were made and this is one of the few survivorsfrom 75 years ago. Back tires are in excellent shape at 95% asyou can see as well as the front tires at 95% or better.No cracks or repairs on the block and quiet transmission. Flattop shifter. Good readable serial tag. The Model \"L\",introduced in 1937, was the firstJohn Deere Utility Tractor. It was\"unstyled\" in designup until1938 and it had a 2-cylinder engine.But unlike that in other John DeereTractors of the time, it was avertical, Hercules engine. It had afoot clutch and the offset engineaided visibility while cultivatingsingle rows. John Deere Wagon WorksinMoline, Illinois built the\"L\". It was very popular for smallfield and garden work for plowing,cultivating and even lawn andpasture care.
In 1941 the\"LA\"was introduced and was styled in designand it couldpull a one 16-inchbottom. It joined the\"L\" whosestyled version was introduced in 1938.The L by comparison could pull aone-bottom 12-inch plow in mostconditions. The LA was poweredwitha John Deere vertical engineas was the L also starting in 1941. TheLA is rated at 14.5 PTO HP and the L at10.3 PTO HP. Both models are known to2-Cylinder Collectors as \"Baby Brother\"of that Deere lineup and weigh around2,200 lbs. and are around 7\'10\" long andless than 4.5 feet so they are becomingincreasing popular with collectors whofind themeasy to trailer or truckaround even in the back of a heavycapacity pickup forfarm or ranchwork, shows or parades. Both models lookalike unless parked together and thenthe larger, heavier rear wheels of theLA catch the eye. Both have a standard 3Forward, 1 Reverse Transmission.
