Rare 1939 WE Model 28A Police Car Mobile Radio Receiver and Transmitter. Western Electric Type 228A Radio Telephone Equipment. Condition as shown. Untested, may or may not work. Tubes are RCA so Western Electric audio guys can relax.
Western Electric 28A Receiver: Looks complete except for cover screw on right front. Appears unmolested. Paint still looks good. See photos.
Western Electric 28A Transmitter: Looks complete except for small round cover in front. May have had some repair or light modification. Paint is flaking off chassis. See photos.
The 228A equipment was first installed at New York City and Kansas City, Missouri. Operates in the 30-40 mc range. The receiver is superheterodyne and the transmitter has 15 watts out.
